Episode 6: Secret Ingredient Challenge (Fried Pickles)

She also loves the “challenge” episodes on her favorite cooking shows, where the chef has to make a tasty dish out of a surprise ingredient. In this episode, Amelia takes on her first challenge. Fried Pickles

Ingredients

  • Dill Pickles – sliced thin or hamburger slices
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup panko (or similar) breadcrumbs
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
  • Canola Oil for Frying
  • 3 Tablespoons of Mayonnaise
  • 2 Teaspoons of Ketchup
  • 1/4 Teaspoons of Garlic Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon of Worcestershire Sauce
  • Hot Sauce to Taste

  • Directions for Fried Pickles

    1. Heat canola oil in a skillet until it sizzles when bread crumbs are added (see video).
    2. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to flour.
    3. Dip pickles in flour, then whisked eggs, then in the panko crumbs.
    4. Fry pickles in hot oil — flipping once until golden brown on both sides.
    5. Remove from oil and place on paper towels to cool

    Directions for Dipping Sauce

    1. Combine Mayo, Ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce, Garlic Powder and Hot Sauce in a small bowl.
    2. Stir until combined.
